Humanoid Calibration: Frames and Validation

Camera frames and independent validation matter in humanoid calibration. This note identifies what the cited documents do and do not establish.

By TechniaHQRobot1 min read

Introduction

A humanoid can have healthy hardware and still miss a grasp because its coordinate frames no longer agree. Calibration ties encoder zeros cameras IMUs force sensors hands and body geometry to the same physical robot.

Vision needs both camera and robot frames

Intrinsic calibration describes how a camera forms an image. Extrinsic calibration connects it to the robot frame. The cited catalogue records do not document a calibration procedure or measured error for a specific humanoid.

Validation must be separate from fitting

Using reference points for calibration and evaluating the same points does not establish performance elsewhere. This page contains no independent validation poses, measurements or acceptance tolerance.

Limitations and missing information

  • No calibration fixture, measured residual error, robot-specific tolerance or validated return-to-service procedure is supplied by this page.

Sources and methodology

Review limited to public catalogue descriptions, not the paid ISO 9283 text. China's project 20255576-T-604 concerns integrated-joint mechanical, electrical and communication interfaces; it is not a camera or IMU calibration recipe.
