Agriculture and food robotics
Autonomous Tractors
Autonomous tractors move an agricultural implement along planned field paths. Steering alone is only one part of the job. Tillage, mowing or spraying also depends on the implement, soil conditions and the permitted work area.
How these robots work
John Deere's autonomous-tractor materials provide a manufacturer reference. For any system, distinguish route execution from implement control and from supervision. A coverage map should be checked against the work actually completed.
Examples and applications
- Autonomous tractor systems
- Tractors with automated steering and supervision
- Implement-specific field automation
What to check for the intended task
- Measure missed strips and overlap on the intended field geometry.
- Check people, animals, obstacles and boundary detection.
- Record implement faults, positioning loss and the operator's recovery workload.
