Palletizing and Depalletizing Robots
Palletizing robots arrange loads on a pallet; depalletizing robots remove them. A known carton pattern and a mixed incoming pallet require different perception and planning.
How these robots work
The arm grasps a load and moves it to a placement pose. The pattern, gripper and package strength determine the stack that can be built.
How to compare the task
Compare stable accepted pallets rather than placements alone. Tool mass, load center and carton deformation affect the operation.
Examples and applications
- Case palletizing
- Layer transfer
- Mixed pallet unloading
Limits of this category
- A carton can collapse under the chosen grip.
- Mixed pallets may require extra sensing and exception handling.
What to check for the intended task
- Test the heaviest carton with the tool fitted
- Inspect stack stability after transport
- Count failed grasps on damaged packaging
