A country can publish an impressive humanoid demo and still play a secondary role in factories. Another may never trend online while supplying the motors, gearboxes, controllers and welding robots used every day.
The IFR World Robotics 2026 report gives a current industrial baseline. Factories installed more than 600,000 industrial robots in 2025, up 11% from the prior year, while the global operational stock reached 5 million units. China installed 354,000 units and accounted for 59% of global deployments. The United States moved into second place with almost 38,500 installations, followed by Japan, South Korea and Germany.

Method
Factory installations provide one measurable view of robotics adoption. The IFR World Robotics 2026 report says more than 600,000 industrial robots were installed in 2025. China, the United States, Japan, South Korea and Germany were the five largest markets by annual installations.

How to read this
Strength in drones does not imply strength in surgical robots. Leadership in industrial robots does not automatically translate into advanced humanoids. A country that produces many robot videos may still lack reliable production systems. IFR figures mainly measure industrial robots, so they do not capture the full scope of medical, military, agricultural and service robotics.
The 2025 IFR data puts China first in annual industrial robot installations, followed by the United States, Japan, South Korea and Germany. Other parts of robotics use different evidence, including medical-device deployments, research systems, component manufacturing, drones, mobile robots and humanoid field tests.
