Introduction
The base G1 price does not buy the development configuration shown in many research projects. Unitree lists secondary development for G1 EDU, while Boston Dynamics invites qualified Atlas customers to evaluate and train the robot for their workflow. Those access differences matter before comparing motion videos.

Manufacturer specifications, not TechniaHQ measurements. The load entries use different definitions and are not a common payload test.
The load ratings cannot establish a strength ratio
Unitree qualifies arm load by extension posture. Boston Dynamics separates instantaneous and sustained weight capacity without defining it as the same arm-extension test. Dividing these figures would produce a misleading capability ratio; reach, grasp, load position and duration would need to match.
What the comparison still cannot answer
Edited demonstrations, different task goals and absent common tests prevent direct claims about reliability or industrial productivity.
This comparison covers the current electric Atlas product. It does not transfer specifications from the retired hydraulic Atlas. No common task protocol, intervention count or repeated-trial result is available in the two product specifications.
Limitations and missing information
- Benchmarks from different robots, versions, environments or control modes are not directly comparable.
- Company-reported metrics are not independently audited unless a separate primary record establishes the same result.
- Code, weights, prices, model versions, APIs and commercial availability can change after publication.
- Long-duration reliability, intervention frequency and complete failure distributions are rarely published.
Sources and methodology
This comparison reads the two manufacturers' product specifications and keeps G1 standard, G1 EDU and Atlas separate. Published ratings establish what each manufacturer states; they do not establish independent task performance.
